a simile Posted on September 28, 2012 She had just returned from the beauty parlor. “You look beautiful,” I said. “Your hair looks nice.” “I look like a big Q-tip,” she said. Wonderful and wonderfully funny! I love coming here to discover your little vignettes: you have a gift with words and pictures alike.
Also, I wanted to mention that my girls and I love your new Johnny Appleseed Book. I copied the quote from the beginning into my journal: “Anyone can count the seeds in an apple, but no one knows how many apples are in a seed.” It’s my autumn meditation.
Hi, Zane — thanks! It’s always nice to hear that someone actually looks at these things. Hey, bring the girls to Horizon Books in TC this Sunday (Oct 7), 1-3. I’m signing books, but also (hopefully) will have some kind of a little craft project.
Your mother looks regal in that portrait – just as she does in person! Love the simile. 🙂
Also, wanted to let you know that my students (140 7th graders) just started reading Criss Cross. One of them sent me a message the other day to tell me that while she was unsure of whether or not she would like the book at first, she is now “addicted” and is staying up late to finish chapters. 🙂
Hi, Amy — she does, doesn’t she? Nice to hear from you, and always good to hear about this type of addiction. 🙂
